The text "Future Skills: Four scenarios for the world of tomorrow" by Samochowiec, J. (2020) (Dr. Jakub Samochowiec is Senior Researcher and Speaker at the Gottlieb Duttweiler Institute. He holds a PhD in social psychology and analyses social, economic and technological changes with a focus on decision-making, ageing, media and consumption) is about 4 future scenarios of what the world might look like in a few decades. These are: 1. the collapse (resources run out, our system collapses, communities form locally), 2. gig economy precariat (technology replaces labour, only the owners of land, knowledge or real estate benefit and remain rich), 3. net zero (climate forces a complete rethink, no more oil, everything we local) and 4. AI luxury (machines do everything, everyone benefits and doesn't have to work anymore, resources abundant, self-realisation suffers).
The text makes it clear to me that there are many big changes ahead. Flexibility and a broad knowledge base are clear advantages. Interestingly, most scenarios boil down to a more local economy. This will also influence me in future design decisions: Services and things make more sense locally, and should be designed in a way that doesn't require half the world. Ecologically and socially.
At the same time, the text is a bit depressing, because in most cases things are bad for us humans and I wonder how realistic these scenarios are. I know that if you describe several extreme cases, the truth is probably somewhere in between.
Own Summary / Thoughts:
4 Szenarien:
